Founded in 1886, the San Diego Yacht Club is one of the oldest and most storied yacht clubs on the West Coast, set on the Point Loma waterfront overlooking San Diego Bay. The San Diego Yacht Club roof replacement covered two of the club’s signature buildings, the Main Clubhouse and the Pavilion. Both had weathered wood shake roofs that had reached the end of their service life in a demanding coastal marine environment.
The Clubhouse’s distinctive pyramid roofline and cupola have been a fixture of the waterfront for decades, so preserving that classic shake appearance was a priority.
