Tapered insulation design is the utilization of rigid insulation to provide slope in roof construction, either residential or commercial buildings. Creating slope allows for appropriate drainage. This is also achieved by building in a cricket. A cricket or saddle is a pyramidal diamond shaped device used to divert water around an obstruction such as a skylight, HVAC unit, chimney, etc; or to divert water along a parapet wall to the drain sump or through-wall scupper.
Types of Tapered Insulation Design
There are 4 main types of tapered insulation:
- Polyisocyanurate (ISO)
- Perlite
- Expanded Polystyrene (EPS)
- Extruded Polystyrene (XPS).
Sylvester Roofing utilizes a tapered system program that illustrates positive water flow. With this technology, we generate a complete meticulous installation design to the field team.
